DEPRESSION
Is a common mental health illness that affects both women and men.
Underlying depressive symptoms can include: a loss of interest or enjoyment in activities, changes in weight and appetite, disrupted sleep patterns, feelings of agitation or being slowed down, low energy, reduced sexual drive, feelings of worthlessness or guilt, poor concentration and decision-making, as well as suicidal thoughts or images. These symptoms can persist for more than a week and may continue for months or even years. They can range in severity from mild to severe.
People experience depression for many different reasons, such as job loss, bereavement, stressful life events, relationship difficulties, family history, biological factors, loneliness, and more.
At ISC Therapy, I use the gold-standard psychological intervention recommended by NICE (2022): Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I work collaboratively with you to understand what’s happening and what may be maintaining the depressive cycle. Together, we aim to help you reconnect with parts of yourself and focus on activating positive behavioural change. In the later stages of therapy, we turn toward the cognitive shift—exploring negative thought patterns and gently challenging them to help shift perspective and support long-term change.
I truly understand and appreciate how difficult this time must be for you. I work in a field where I support many clients living with depression alongside psychosis. Just as I stand beside them, I’m here for you too, on your side, in your corner, to help bring light to what may feel like a very dark and heavy place.
