Anxiety

Hypnotherapy, CBT & EMDR have shown impactful results in significantly reducing anxiety.

Anxiety is a normal part of daily life; it helps us stay alert, focused, respond to danger or threat, and even improve performance. However, for some, anxiety levels can exceed what’s considered a typical response and become frequent, intense, and overwhelming. For those struggling with anxiety, certain situations, events, places, or people may begin to feel like a threat, leading to fear, worry, and rumination. Perhaps you're experiencing something similar?

When living with anxiety, we often start to rely on things that once helped us feel some relief. In CBT terms, these are called safety behaviours—things we might do more or less of to feel ‘safe’. Can you think of anything specific that helps you feel safer?

These experiences of anxiety may stem from childhood or be linked to something more recent.

Below is a range of specific forms of anxiety that ISC Therapy can support you with.

Please, if you see that none of the below resonate with you, do contact me to see how best I can help you.

  • Some people feel deeply worried or self-conscious about how they appear or are perceived by others. This can trigger physical responses such as blushing, hot flushes, a racing heart, and feelings of anxiety. These sensations are often accompanied by persistent, worrying thoughts about oneself or what others might be thinking.

Together, we can begin to explore what’s going on for you, identify the thoughts that come up, and work towards building your confidence in these situations

  • Holidays are meant to feel relaxing and exciting, but for some, they can bring quite the opposite experience. Just the thought of flying can trigger intense anxiety—whether due to past experiences, distressing news stories, or persistent fearful thoughts. Some people manage their nerves with a pre-flight drink, while others may rely on medication, travel companions, or avoid flying altogether.

Together, we’ll work to understand what’s happening for you right now and focus on preparing you to fly with confidence & ease, so you can finally enjoy the travel experience you deserve

  • Whether it’s climbing a ladder, standing atop a tall building for work, or scaling a hill or mountain on an adventure, feeling frightened or anxious in these situations is completely understandable. Even just thinking about them can trigger intense anxiety, making it feel easier to cancel plans or avoid them altogether. But now, you're looking for a positive change, hoping to feel calm and confident when you're up high.

Together, we’ll explore what’s fueling this fear and support you on the journey to reach the top with confidence.

  • Getting into a car, especially for the first time, can feel incredibly daunting. This anxiety can affect newly qualified drivers, beginners, or those who’ve experienced an accident. For some, the thought of driving alone, navigating busy roads or motorways, being a passenger, or the fear of crashing can trigger overwhelming worry. As a result, you might avoid driving altogether, rely on public transport or others for lifts, or try repeatedly to drive but feel held back by intense anxiety.

Together, we’ll take things at a pace that feels right for you, gradually building your confidence behind the wheel. We’ll also explore and gently challenge the thoughts that are making driving feel so difficult for you. We support you moving towards a more relaxed and empowering driving experience

  • Activities like going for a walk, cleaning, decorating, or gardening can often feel relaxing and enjoyable. However, for some, these moments are overshadowed by the worry of encountering a spider, cat, dog, or another animal. Even just the thought or image of one can trigger intense anxiety, whether it stems from childhood experiences, a frightening event, or a general fear. This can lead to strong reactions such as shivering, jumping, screaming, shouting, crying, or feeling completely overwhelmed. It’s only natural to start avoiding situations where these animals might appear. The fear feels very real, and it can be difficult when others don’t fully understand or relate.

I understand the stress and anxiety this brings you. Together, we’ll work on gently reducing that anxiety and gradually building your comfort and confidence in their presence.

  • The moment of being the center of attention can be, for some, a very scary place to be in. The thought and image of feeling judged, people looking at you, air drop silence, accompanied by worrying thoughts. All in all can bring on a response in the mind/body of bright redness, sweats, tremors, blank thoughts, and intense feelings.

Ever found yourself holding back from speaking your truth, only to regret it later? Or trapped in situations where you constantly battle feelings of inadequacy? Confidence is more than just a trait—it's the cornerstone of our interactions in every sphere of life, from work and relationships to self-perception. Together, we build upon your personality to put you in a position of strength and power.
